With any luck Glenn will place foot upon terra firma for the first time since the airlift June 27th. He is been hovering at the fourth floor. Today he walked with his walker the farthest he has self-propelled to date, managed the length of a bench with no walker, has made progress with his "gait," and was able to step up on a platform and down again, leading with each foot -- the equivalent of a normal step riser. The physical therapists are impressed!
Tomorrow morning at 11, I am to perform the dressing change sola under watchful eyes. The doctors will examine Glenn's wounds and determine once and for all if any further surgical maneuvers are in order at this time. The low grade fever has remained low grade, never spiking more than 3 degrees above normal since last Thursday night. Since then they have been super aggressive during the daily dressing changes to help along the falling away of donor grafts that overlay Glenn's own skin grafts. It's a tough procedure. Glenn is holding up very well and has gone through most of these sessions without morphine. He's been off the IV morphine for atleast a week.
Anyhow, bed now, but we both feel much more "ready" today than we did last Thursday.
Perhaps tomorrow is THE day. More soon...
Beth

Sure hope u get good news and can get home, that is if the Dr.'s say it's a go. Trying to rest in a hospital is unreal.
