July 20 -- not so fast...

Well the good and the bad news is this -- Glenn did not come home today but instead was scheduled for another surgery. His attending physician would like to do some new grafts on a few small areas that are very deep and do not promise to heal on their own, even over many weeks. So they will do another surgery (#3), probably Thursday. That way those areas will heal much much faster. This would put his homecoming around the end of next week.

We are both on the same page about this. Not happy about +/- 10 more days, not happy about the setback in terms of pain and mobility and iv's and other surgery-related factors; but we feel that another 10 days with continuous care by knowledgeable, experienced and compassionate people in an appropriate setting will really allow for a lot more healing, and more progress with physical therapy before he comes home where we will largely be responsible for his care. We are very willing to take this on, but things still seem a bit too critical for us laymen...

So again, a bit relieved in spite of the disappointment.
